Ondansetron 4 mg Orally Disintegrating I.P.
Ondansetron belongs to a class of medicines called serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. The medicine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. The medication works by blocking the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for causing nausea and vomiting. The first dosage of Ondansetron Tablet is usually taken 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy, 1 to 2 hours before the start of radiation therapy, or 1 hour before surgery. The dosage is sometimes adjusted to one to three times a day during chemotherapy or radiation therapy and for 1 to 2 days after the end of treatment.
Strictly follow the dosage and duration prescribed by the doctor. Do not deviate from the dosage as it may cause negative health effects. Some people may observe side effects such as Headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, or constipation may occur. To get the maximum benefits of a rapidly disintegrating tablet, remove the tablet from the package just before you want to take your dose. To open the package, do not try to push the tablet through the foil backing of the blister. Instead, use dry hands to peel back the foil backing. Gently pop out the tablet and immediately place the tablet on the top of your tongue. The tablet will dissolve in a few seconds and can be swallowed with saliva.
There are mild to moderate side effects of Ondansetron tablets that may not last for a long time. If your side effects persist or worsen with time, immediately consult your doctor. The side effects vary in all users and depend on the physiological condition of the person and response to the medicine. Some drugs when taken together can interact with each other and cause negative health effects. The drugs also have a tendency to interact with certain food items and health conditions. Do not take Ondansetron tablet with the following mentioned drugs:
1. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or lactating as this medicine may harm the newborn or fetus.
2. Avoid consuming alcohol as it may worsen the side effects.
3. Strictly adhere to the prescribed dosage and duration and complete the full course of the medicine.
4. Keep the medicine out of reach of children and pets. Properly Dispose of discarded and expired medicines.
5. Store the Ondansetron tablets in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
